Jim Macdonald, CFP®
Jim is a 1976 graduate of West Lafayette High School and a 1980 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Management. Jim worked for Indiana Bell and AT&T in marketing before coming to work in Lafayette for Shearson Lehman Brothers. Jim spent five years with them as a financial consultant. In 1990, Jim accepted an offer to work at Reed & Company, P.C. to do business development. In 1993, Jim passed all parts of a uniform examination to become a Certified Financial Planner from the Denver based College for Financial Planning. In 2007. Jim joined Gettings Reed Financial to provide financial services and help satisfy client’s needs and requests. Jim is a registered representative with the independent Broker/Dealer CFD Investments. In addition to being Certified Financial Planning practitioners, they are also investment advisor representatives of Creative Financial Designs, Inc, a registered investment advisor.
Jim specializes in helping individuals with their current investments and financial needs. He has given talks to various organizations on investing and managing risk. He has worked with college professors, professionals, and business owners in helping them create, enhance, and protect their investments and retirement assets.
Jim is active in the community and is currently chair of the Downtown Gridiron Club, board member of the Lafayette Urban Enterprise Association, board member of the Delta Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi house corporation, past board member of Bauer Family Resources, past board member of the West Lafayette Little League, and past treasurer for the Northwest Indiana chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. He is a past member of the Community Foundation Marketing and Public Relations committee, the Purdue Alumni Association Investment Policy Committee, past Chairperson of the United Way Allocations Committee, and a past Board Member of the Lafayette Country Club. He also was past board member for Leadership Lafayette, past board member for the Sycamore Girl Scouts, YWCA Foundation, and the Downtown Business Center. Jim is married and has four children.
